Why is “shark” the answer to 117d? I don’t see any reference to a shark in the seven longest Down answers

    1. Nick Long (Admin)

The long down answers in the grid all contain some kind of marine animal hidden in the answer. “TROUT” is in the answer “ROUNDABOUTROUTE”, “TUNA” is in “CAUGHTUNAWARE”, “SALMON” in “PSALMONEHUNDRED”, etc. So you kind of need the help from some of the across clues, but “SHARK” ends up fitting as it doesn’t show up in the down clues and maintains the marine animal theme.
