Mini Sudoku Tips

  • Start with the Fullest Areas: Look for any row, column, or 2×3 box that already has most of its numbers filled in (like 4 or 5 out of 6). It’s much easier to figure out the one or two missing numbers there.
  • Scan and Eliminate: Pick a number (like 5) and scan the whole grid to see where it already appears. By looking at the rows, columns, and boxes those 5s are in, you can eliminate many empty squares and often find exactly where a new 5 must go.
  • Focus on a Single Square: Look at one empty square. Check its row, its column, and its 2×3 box. Identify all the numbers from 1 to 6 that are already used in those areas. The one number that isn’t present is the answer for that square.
  • Check One Box at a Time: Pick one of the six 2×3 boxes. Go through the numbers 1 to 6 one by one and ask, “Where can the number ‘1’ go in this box?” Sometimes, there’s only one available empty cell for a specific number within that box’s boundaries.
  • Don’t Get Stuck on One Number: If you’re trying to place all the ‘3’s and you can’t find the next one, move on! Switch to finding the ‘4’s or ‘5’s. Placing a different number will often give you the clue you need to solve the one you were stuck on.
