Tango Tips

  • Look for Pairs and Sandwiches: If you see two Suns next to each other (like Sun-Sun), you know the squares on either side must be Moons. Same goes for Moon-Moon! Also, if you spot something like Sun-Empty-Sun, that empty spot has to be a Moon (because you can’t have three in a row).
  • Keep Count in Rows & Columns: Remember, every row and every column needs exactly half Suns and half Moons. If you know a row needs 5 Suns and you’ve already placed all 5, boom – all the empty spots in that row must be Moons. This is super helpful!
  • Use the ‘=’ and ‘X’ Clues (If Any): Some Tango puzzles have little ‘=’ or ‘X’ marks between squares. They’re simple commands: ‘=’ means the two squares must have the same symbol, and ‘X’ means they must have different symbols. Easy points!
  • Check Both Ways: Sometimes filling in a square based on a row rule helps you figure something out in its column, or vice versa. Always think about how placing one symbol affects both its row and its column count and pairs.
  • It’s All Logic, No Guessing: Just like the other puzzles, Tango is designed to be solved step-by-step. If you feel stuck, resist the urge to guess. Take a moment, scan the grid again for any pairs, sandwiches, or rows/columns that are almost full – the next logical step is usually hiding in plain sight!
